Physical Therapist What You’ll Do
  • Provide physical therapy services to patients according to a written physician's plan of care and as defined in the state Physical Therapy Practice Act.
  • Advise, consult and teach appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff.
  • Assist the provider in evaluating the level of function.
  • Participate in the development of the plan of care.
  • Prepare clinical and progress notes.
  • Translate exercises into functional activities or activities of daily living.
  • Develop plans for modifying equipment, appliances, and the physical environment in clients' homes.
  • Confer regularly with attending providers regarding client progress and report physical and emotional conditions and reactions to treatment, considering social and physical factors affecting care.
  • Interpret to the client and family the implications of the treatment, respecting the provider’s actions and wishes.
  • Provide families with information, support, and encouragement to motivate their progress.
  • Prepare and submit clinical and progress summaries based on goal attainment.
  • Supervise physical therapy assistants according to policy and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, tracking clients’ goals and progress.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Physical Therapy (American Physical Therapy Association or equivalent)
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in an acute hospital or equivalent (preferred)
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and appropriate automobile insurance
