Pharmacy Customer Service Associate – Walgreens

Join Walgreens as a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate.

This role offers a base hourly rate of $16.00‑$18.00 based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
Operations
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
  • Recommend items for sale and trade‑up/companion items.
  • Register customer purchases on the assigned cash register, collect cash, give change, and process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean, well merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records.
  • Check in and price merchandise as directed by the store manager or shift leader.
  • Assist with web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders, pick items, deliver orders to customers).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to maintain a clean store condition.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned by store management.
Pharmacy
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, enter prescription data, and process prescriptions.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medication correctness, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures, including the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist pharmacy department with inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company asset‑protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, and order errors involving Rx drugs.
Store Merchandise (Additional)
  • Assist with separation of food items (raw vs. pre‑cooked), product placement, and stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out.
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service and poster printing.
  • Has working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by the Manager or assigned by corporate; acquire continuing education credits.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Approximately six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
