Payroll Assistant

A well-established accountancy practice in Belfast is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join its busy payroll bureau. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your payroll expertise while working with a varied client portfolio in a supportive and collaborative team.

• 22 days annual leave plus 11 statutory holidays
• Employer pension contributions
• Early finish at 2pm every Friday

• Previous payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau
• Experience with HSC payroll is desirable
• Working knowledge of payroll software
• Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
• A team player with a willingness to learn and develop

• Process payroll for a portfolio of clients accurately and on time
• Prepare payroll reports and ensure statutory submissions are completed within deadlines
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with payroll legislation

• Respond to payroll queries from clients and colleagues
• Support the Payroll Manager with the day-to-day operation of the payroll bureau
• Assist with pension processing, statutory payments, and payroll reconciliations

• Support other departments across the practice when required
• Assist with ad hoc payroll projects and administrative tasks
• Gain exposure to bookkeeping and accounts support work where appropriate
