The Accountant will provide timely and accurate financial reporting to both the Head Office and local management teams. Day-to-day of the role:
Report directly to the Director for daily operations and regularly to the Group Finance Manager and Regional Finance Manager as required. Prepare monthly management accounts (actual & forecast) along with supporting schedules and analysis to meet Group reporting deadlines. Handle a full set of accounts and reconciliations, manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections. Manage banking activities, monitor cash flow, and administer treasury operations.
Prepare and maintain accurate monthly and yearly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, fixed asset registers, and cash flow statements. Process expense reimbursements and manage company credit cards. Liaise and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits. Ensure compliance with the group’s accounting standards and policies. Coordinate Companies House filings and ensure compliance with all statutory reporting requirements. Prepare and coordinate statutory and tax filings, including VAT returns, PAYE submissions (RTI), and Corporation Tax compliance.
Maintain effective internal controls and support continuous improvement of financial processes and systems. Perform any other ad hoc duties as necessary. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the construction, manufacturing, or related industries. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is preferred. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books) and Microsoft Excel. Strong knowledge of UK tax regulations and financial reporting standards. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good team player with strong initiative and the ability to work under pressure.
