We are hiring for our client, who is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in Belfast city centre.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to develop their experience across journal postings, reconciliations, month‑end close activities and financial audit support. The successful Assistant Accountant will work with colleagues across different entities and regions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with agreed service standards.

The role offers hybrid working and would suit someone who is part‑qualified, studying towards an accountancy qualification or has relevant experience within a busy finance environment.

  • The Role

    As the Assistant Accountant, you will:

    • Record journal entries in SAP for assigned entities and regions in line with established Service Level Agreements
    • Complete bank, balance sheet and other account reconciliations
    • Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly
    • Perform period‑end activities in accordance with financial close schedules
    • Respond to queries from colleagues across the business
    • Prepare and post accounting adjustments when required
    • Support internal and external financial audits
    • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
    • Work closely with colleagues to ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met
    The Person

    The successful Assistant Accountant will ideally have:

    • Relevant experience within an accounting or finance environment
    • Experience completing account reconciliations and posting journals
    • An understanding of month‑end or period‑end accounting activities
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills

      Good attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
    • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
    • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
    • Experience using SAP or another large accounting system, desirable
    • An accountancy qualification, part‑qualification or relevant degree, desirable
