Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant (Maternity Cover) Toomebridge We are partnering with a well-established engineering business based in Toomebridge, who are seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy finance function, providing maternity cover for an anticipated period of 12 months.

This role offers a varied workload across accounts payable, bank reconciliations, expenses, cash-flow support and month-end activities, while working closely with the wider finance and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities Complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations across accounts payable, payroll and logistics transactions Process supplier invoices and expenses accurately and within required timescales Review outstanding and unapproved invoices and follow up with relevant stakeholders Monitor and close outstanding Purchase Orders Maintain accurate accounts payable balances and investigate discrepancies Prepare accounts payable ledgers, open PO reports and unapproved invoice reports Support cash-flow management through accurate and timely financial information Assist with accounts receivable activities and month-end processes Support payroll liabilities and journal preparation Reconcile supplier invoices relating to accommodation, vehicles and plant against internal records Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and improving finance processes and reporting Who Were Looking For Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar finance role Experience across accounts payable, bank reconciliations and/or job costing Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices Good working knowledge of accounting software and strong Excel skills AAT, Accounting/Finance degree or equivalent experience would be advantageous Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider finance team Whats On Offer Competitive salary Opportunity to join an established engineering business Varied exposure across transactional finance and month-end processes Supportive finance team and wider business environment If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please get in touch with Diarmuid for further details.
