Hegarty, one of the region’s leading law firms, are looking for two Business Administration Apprentices to join the team at our Peterborough office.
In this role you’ll be gaining valuable business administration experience as part of our practice support team, whilst you study for a recognised qualification.
You will be joining a modern and dynamic team that fully supports each and every individual and ensures that everyone has a great work life balance.
This role will involve travel between the offices of the firm, so a clean driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential.
Due to the nature of the work you'll be involved in, we are unable to accept applications from candidates under the age of 18 years old.
Key Responsibilities:The role will involve supporting the departments and firm with administrative tasks such as:
- Undertaking and successfully completing the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship at Peterborough College. Around 20% of your employment will be spent in training and mentoring, with classroom learning every 3 weeks on Tuesdays at Peterborough College.
- Typing documents, training in Legal Secretary duties.
- Photocopying, scanning and preparing bundles.
- Accompanying fee earners on home visits for Will signings.
- Undertaking local deliveries of urgent documents as requested by Fee Earners or Practice Manager and from time to time to purchase miscellaneous items from local sources using petty cash from the accounts dept.
- You will be required to provide reception cover at any Hegarty office when the Receptionist is on holiday. When not providing reception cover at one of the branch office, you will be required to cover the reception at Peterborough during the Receptionist’s lunch hour or when she is on holiday or off sick.
- Delivering process improvement projects, that support the firm’s strategic plan.
- Witnessing documents as directed by fee earners.
- Answering the telephone and taking messages from clients or staff
- Strong communication skills, able to deal with clients in a sensitive, professional and confidential manner.
- Great attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office products.
- The ability to be flexible, responding to the needs of colleagues.
- Maintain a positive attitude, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- To undertake appropriate training as part of the apprenticeship in addition to complying with the ethical and mandatory training obligations of working in a legal practice.
- A salary in line with the Government recommended level for apprentices, rising to the national minimum wage after the first year.
