BHC is one of the UK’s leading structural steel fabrication and construction companies, designing, fabricating and erecting fabricated steelwork throughout the UK and Ireland.

We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager to identify and implement improvement initiatives while championing operational excellence across our fabrication facility and the wider construction business.

Reporting to the Operations Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of continuous improvement  will develop our improvement strategy from the ground up by embedding lean thinking, empowering our people, and creating lasting cultural change that improves the way we work.

You will work closely with each team through the project workflow from tendering to design, fabrication, delivery, construction and handover to identify and eliminate waste while reducing defects and improving value added to the customer. The successful applicant will spend most of their time where value is created – whether on the workshop floor, in the design office, or on site – working closely with teams to identify opportunities, implement improvements, and drive lasting change across the business.

Main Responsibilities:

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the business.
• Lead the development and implementation of BHC’s continuous improvement strategy.
• Develop a structured system for capturing, evaluating and implementing improvement ideas.
• Encourage employee engagement whilst monitoring contribution at an individual level.
• Work with all departments to improve communication and collaboration.
• Support successful project delivery through all lifecycle stages through efficient material and information flow.
• Monitor key performance indicators and use data to measure improvement initiatives and business performance.
• Integrate the principles of lean manufacturing at a level that is appropriate to each level of the workforce.
• Support project teams to improve efficiency, quality, reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Identify and eliminate waste, downtime and non-value-added activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain a visible, hands on, influential leadership to coach and support teams to embed lasting change.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving processes and engaging people. The successful candidate will ideally have experience leading continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing, fabrication or engineering environment. Experience with in the structural steel industry would be advantageous, although applicants from other sectors with a proven track record of delivering operational improvements are equally encouraged to apply.
