Job Description & How to Apply Below

Explore the chance to work with us in business operations at the fastest-growing scrapyard network in the UK!

We’re Local Recycling Group Limited, a fast-growing vehicle recycling facility based in Darwen.

This site is home to a group of national digital marketplace brands including Scrap Local
, Parts Local and Salvage Local
.

Across our platforms, we generate thousands of enquiries for scrapyards across the UK every month.

In 2024
, we launched our own yard, bringing everything together under one roof.

Since then, we’ve been building this business properly, with clear processes, strong standards and a focus on doing things better than the industry norm
.

We’re fully licensed, operate to recognised industry standards, and are on a mission to modernise vehicle recycling by combining real operations with systems, data and technology that actually work.

We’re not here to follow the industry. We’re here to raise the standard
.

We’re growing quickly and looking for the right people to grow with us
.

We’re looking for someone to join our Customer Service & Business Operations team to cover maternity leave
.

This is a
12-month fixed-term contract
, with the
potential to become a permanent position depending on the needs of the business and the opportunities available at the end of the contract.

We’re open to either:
  • One full-time team member, or
  • Two part-time team members, depending on the right applicants.
You’ll become the customer-facing voice of our business. You’ll be:
  • speaking to customers every day,
  • handling inbound and outbound calls,
  • helping people sell their vehicles,
  • liaising with collection agents,
  • updating our systems
  • making sure every customer has a smooth experience from start to finish.

This is not just answering phones.

You are the experience the customer remembers.
  • We’re based in a working scrapyard in Darwen.
  • It can be muddy, noisy and fast-paced.
  • You’ll work closely with both the office team and the yard team, so no two days are quite the same.
  • This isn’t a polished corporate office. It’s real, hands-on and constantly moving.
  • We’ve got multiple office dogs, so being dog-friendly is essential. (Bonus points if you bring treats).
  • We work hard, but we also enjoy what we do. We regularly organise team and staff events, and we’re proud of the supportive team we’ve built.
  • We want people who bring positivity, professionalism and good energy.
  • We support each other, celebrate success and aren’t afraid to roll up our sleeves when things get busy.
A Look Into Life at Local Recycling Group:
  • Have previous customer service experience
  • Be confident speaking on the phone
  • Be computer literate and comfortable learning new systems
  • Have a strong work ethic and be reliable
  • Stay calm under pressure
  • Have at least 1 year of experience using a CRM system
Who it is NOT for:
  • If you’re a clock watcher, do the bare minimum or need constant chasing, this isn’t the role for you.
  • If you turn up late, avoid responsibility or look for shortcuts, you won’t enjoy working here.
  • We’re looking for people who want to contribute, take ownership and be part of a team that genuinely cares about doing things well.
  • Genuine opportunity for a permanent position
  • Career progression within a growing business

This is a chance to join a business that’s growing properly.

Your role matters here. Your ideas count.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn
, develop and make a real impact from day one.

For the right person, there is genuine potential for this role to become permanent as the business continues to grow.

If you’re looking for somewhere you can make a difference rather than just fill a seat, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll be reviewing applications as they come in, with interviews taking place on
Wednesday 5th August and Thursday 6th August 2026
.

Our aim is for the successful candidate to start on
24th August 2026
, although we’re happy to wait for the right person.
