Software Delivery Manager

Salary:
Up to £50,000

Location:
Shoreham-by-Sea (Hybrid 1-2 days per week in office)

About us

At Focus Group you can be proud of what you do, how you do it and feel a true part of the team. We work hard to create an inclusive, collaborative and rewarding environment where you're inspired to achieve brilliant things and really make a difference to the future of our business.

Established in 2003, we're one of the UK's leading independent providers of essential business technology, and proud to have been named one of 'The UK's Best 100 Companies To Work For'. We're a business on a genuine growth journey, backed by Hg Capital, with acquisitions and expansion firmly on the agenda — which means this role won't stand still.

The role

We're looking for a Software Delivery Manager to impact the order, pace and clarity of how our internal applications and services get built. Reporting to the Head of Software, you'll be the driving force behind sprint planning and delivery across multiple development teams, working alongside partnered platforms like Service Now, Hub Spot and Dynamics.

You'll own Jira administration and sprint management end to end — running agile ceremonies, keeping the backlog in shape, and making sure technical teams and business stakeholders are always on the same page. You'll spot the trends before they become problems, elevate when it matters, and give stakeholders real visibility of progress, risk and delivery metrics.

This is a role for someone who loves structure but thrives on people — as much at home configuring a Jira workflow as they are facilitating a room full of stakeholders with competing priorities.

What you'll be doing

Jira & Confluence administration

  • Configuring and maintaining Jira projects, boards, workflows, automations and permission schemes
  • Building dashboards and reports that give real‑time visibility
  • Running regular Jira hygiene activities to keep data accurate
  • Managing access and permissions, and supporting the team with Jira training
  • Keeping process documentation up to date in Confluence

Sprint planning & delivery support

  • Facilitating sprint planning so teams have clear, achievable goals
  • Running backlog refinement and planning poker sessions with developers and architects
  • Coordinating the internal development support rota
  • Monitoring sprint progress, spotting blockers and helping clear them
  • Tracking velocity, capacity and sprint metrics to drive continuous improvement

Stakeholder & team collaboration

  • Working with Business Analysts, Project Managers and stakeholders to get backlog items sprint‑ready
  • Producing clear sprint status reports
  • Communicating progress, risks and dependencies proactively
  • Capturing meeting minutes and following up on actions
  • Coordinating UAT with internal stakeholders
  • Escalating risks and quality concerns to the Head of Software
About you
  • Highly organised and process‑driven, with real attention to detail
  • An analytical thinker who spots trends and communicates them clearly
  • A self‑starter who works well independently but knows when to bring others in
  • A natural collaborator who enjoys bringing people together
  • A strong communicator who can turn complexity into clarity
  • Proactive and solution‑focused — you see a problem and want to fix it
What you'll bring
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • An analytical approach — comfortable asking the right questions to draw out detailed requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at every level
  • A good understanding of the software development lifecycle and how development teams work
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams
  • A customer‑focused mindset

Nice to have:

  • Strong Jira and Confluence skills, including board configuration, workflow design, JQL and automation
  • Jira administration or Scrum Master certification
  • Experience running agile ceremonies or project coordination in a software environment
  • Advanced JQL for complex filtering and reporting
  • Familiarity with other agile tools such as Azure Dev Ops,  or Trello
  • Experience supporting multiple teams at once
  • A background in telecoms or technology services
  • Understanding of QA and testing processes
Why Focus Group

Let's connect. Let's grow.
