We are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused Project Support Officer –Skills and Employment to join our Strategy and Inclusive Growth Directorate.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong project support, data and administration skills who wants to play a key role in supporting programmesthat help people develop their skills, access employment and improve theirfuture opportunities.
Reporting tothe Programmes Lead – Careers
, you will provide high-quality project,programme, data and administrative support across the Skills and Employment Directorate. You will help ensure programmes are well organised, accuratelymonitored and delivered in line with funding, contract and audit requirements.
What you’llbe doing
You will provide essential support across a range of Skills and Employment programmes,including:
- Supporting the timely and accurate processing of provider claims, ensuring they meet programme and fundingrequirements.
- Maintaining accurate records,project documentation and evidence trails so that programmes remain audit-ready
. - Monitoring project timelines,deliverables, actions and risks, ensuring key deadlines are met.
- Using Excel to manage andanalyse data, including pivot tables, lookups, filters, formulas and large datasets.
- Supporting contract and programmemanagement, including monitoring finances, performance, targets,subcontractors and risks.
- Assisting with the review ofprovider evidence against funding rules and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Preparing reports covering spend,outputs, outcomes, finance, performance and risk for partners, senior leaders and governance boards.
- Supporting contract variations and governance documentation, ensuring information and approvals are coordinated and submitted on time.
- Maintaining action and riskregisters, project files and programme documentation.
- Coordinating meetings, calendars,workshops and team events, ensuring activities run smoothly.
- Drafting and distributing clearcommunications, reports, presentations, guidance and project documentation.
- Collecting, compiling and analysing data to support effective performance management and decision-making.
- Carrying out research and analysis to support the development of performance indicators and management information.
- Building positive working relationships with internal teams including Finance, Audit, Legal and Procurement
, as well as external partners such as providers, councils,ICBs and DWP. - Contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures to improve efficiency,compliance and programme delivery.
About you
We are looking for someone who is organised, accountable and adaptable
, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
You willideally have experience of working in a project, programme or contract support environment
, with an understanding of skills, employment,employability or related public sector programmes.
You will bring:
- Strong project and programmesupport experience, ideally with knowledge of skills and employmentprogrammes.
- Excellent data management and analysis skills, including confident intermediate-level Excel
capability. - Experience of using spreadsheets tocreate tracking data, monitor timelines, analyse information and produce reports.
- Experience of maintaining accurate records and documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.
- An understanding of contract management, claims verification, financial monitoring or programmeassurance.
- Strong organisational skills andthe ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports, guidance and information for different audiences.
