Job Summary

Light Whale International is looking for an early-career Associate Producer to help deliver Light Up Eye 2027, a large-scale community lantern parade in Eye, Peterborough. A 10-day paid opportunity with hands-on producing experience, mentoring and the potential for future work with LWI.

Light Whale International is a collective of lantern makers, performers and community artists. With support from Arts Council England and Peterborough Presents, we are delivering the third edition of our popular biennial lantern parade, Light Up Eye in Eye Village, Peterborough, on Saturday 27th February 2027.

We are looking for an Associate Producer to join our team and help develop and deliver the parade. You will gain hands‑on experience across production planning, community engagement, accessibility, volunteer coordination, risk assessment, road closures and event logistics, working alongside the Light Whale team.

You will receive mentoring from Peterborough Presents and Simon Hollingworth, as well as the LWI team. We are particularly interested in supporting an early-career producer to develop the areas of producing that interest them, whether event management, access, logistics, artist liaison or community engagement.

You don't need extensive producing experience, but you should be organised, curious, communicative and keen to learn. We particularly welcome applicants from Eye, Peterborough and the surrounding area.

This is a paid 10-day opportunity running from September 2026 to March 2027 at £175p/d (9am - 5pm) with exact working dates agreed with the successful candidate. There may be opportunities to continue working with Light Whale on future projects in the UK and internationally.

• Support production planning and project timelines
• Coordinate workshops, artists, volunteers and community partners
• Support risk assessments, accessibility planning and the Event Management Plan
• Assist with road closure, traffic management and event logistics
• Support publicity, bookings and participant communications
• Help coordinate volunteers and parade‑day operations
• Work alongside LWI, Peterborough Presents and Simon Hollingworth
• Take part in workshops and preparation leading up to the parade
• Support evaluation and project close‑down

The collective first began its practice in France and has, for the past five years, produced lantern parades in Tonnerre (France), St. Vincent (Italy), Dumfries (Scotland), Harlow Town and Eye Village (UK) attracting audiences of up to 1,500 people.
