- The taking up, disposal, storing, safe handling and laying of flagging, kerbing, and other modular paving works.
- The safe breaking out, excavation and removal of highway materials.
- The laying and raking of bituminous macadam binder course and surface course.
- Setting out of roadworks and associated traffic management.
- The installation of a variety of street furniture, guard rails, sign poles, and ironwork.
- Working around practical problems and unexpected challenges using your initiative to fix problems and get the job done.
- Previous experience of manual work and using plant equipment/machinery.
- Proven practical/technical skills and a track record of delivering the intended work successfully.
- Previous experience of working to deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A desire to gain new construction skills.
- A sense of pride in being a visible representative of the council working to improve the local community.
- A full UK driving licence. HGV licence and construction accreditations are a massive plus; training opportunities are available.
