Groundworks Foreman

The CSR group are seeking an experienced Groundworks Foreman to oversee and manage all groundworks and enabling works on a large-scale residential housing development in West Belfast. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of groundworks activities across the site, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and in line with the overall construction programme.

Key Responsibilities Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of groundworks and enabling works across the development. Manage and coordinate ground workers, machine operators, subcontractors and site labour. Plan and organise daily groundworks activities in line with the construction programme. Coordinate works including:
Site clearance and preparation Excavation and earthworks Foundations and footings Drainage and stormwater systems Roads, kerbing and pavements Service trenches and ducting Concrete works Hard landscaping and external works Temporary works and site access General enabling works Ensure foundations, drainage, levels and setting-out works are completed accurately and to specification. Liaise closely with the Site Manager, Engineers and other trades to ensure groundworks are coordinated with the wider construction programme.

Monitor progress and ensure productivity targets and key programme dates are achieved. Manage subcontractors and ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and agreed programmes. Carry out regular inspections of completed and ongoing works. Identify and resolve site issues quickly and efficiently. Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure any defects or issues are addressed promptly. Essential Experience Proven experience as a Groundworks Foreman, Groundworks Supervisor or Senior Groundworker.

Strong background in residential groundworks, ideally on large housing developments. Extensive knowledge of foundations, drainage, roads, utilities, excavation and associated external works. Experience supervising groundworks gangs and subcontractors. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications. Good understanding of levels, setting out and groundworks sequencing. Strong Health & Safety awareness. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding construction programmes.

Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to site management. Desirable Previous experience working on large-scale housing developments. Relevant construction qualifications or trade background. SSSTS / SMSTS or equivalent supervisory qualification. CSCS / CSR or relevant site card. First Aid qualification. Experience coordinating multiple groundworks subcontractors and plant. Knowledge of Northern Ireland construction standards and practices.
