An established multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to join their Cambridge office. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor to become part of a respected practice delivering a broad range of projects across Cambridge and the wider East of England, including commercial, residential, education, science and research-led developments.
The successful Project Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for their own commissions, providing professional cost management advice from early feasibility through to completion. Working alongside experienced colleagues, the Project Quantity Surveyor will liaise directly with clients, design teams and contractors, ensuring budgets are carefully managed and commercial objectives remain on track throughout each project.
This role would suit a Project Quantity Surveyor with solid UK consultancy experience who is ready to become more independent and take a stronger client-facing role. The Project Quantity Surveyor will benefit from working within a collaborative, well-established team while gaining exposure to technically interesting projects and a varied local client base.
Project Quantity Surveyor –Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing feasibility estimates, cost plans and project budgets
- Producing tender documents and undertaking tender analysis
- Advising clients on procurement and commercial strategy
- Managing valuations, variations and change control
- Preparing regular cost reports and financial forecasts
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
- Attending site, client and design team meetings
- Managing commissions through both pre- and post-contract stages
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline
- Previous UK PQS or cost consultancy experience
- Working towards MRICS through the RICS APC, or already chartered
- Good knowledge of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes
- Experience managing projects with increasing levels of independence
- Strong numerical, reporting and organisational abilities
- Confident communicating with clients, consultants and contractors
