Graduate Health & Safety Advisor

Vickerstock are working in partnership with an established civil engineering contractor on the appointment of a Graduate Health & Safety Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone nearing completion of their studies to begin their career in Health & Safety, gaining practical experience across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced H&S professionals and operational teams, you will develop your knowledge of workplace safety, risk management and legislative compliance while supporting the delivery of Health & Safety across live project sites.

In your new role:
Assist with the implementation and maintenance of Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems Support the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work Participate in site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and following up on corrective actions Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including reporting and identifying preventative measures Support the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings Maintain accurate H&S documentation, inspection records and compliance reports Work alongside site teams and contractors to promote safe working practices Assist with internal and external audits and ongoing compliance activities Support environmental initiatives and the monitoring of environmental performance Contribute to the development of a positive Health & Safety culture across project sites What you will need to succeed:
Degree (completed or nearing completion) in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline Basic understanding of Health & Safety legislation and workplace risk management Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational skills and attention to detail Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team Good IT skills and confidence maintaining records and preparing reports Willingness to travel between project sites as required Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
