This apprenticeship is a chance to launch a career at the heart of British broadcasting. You will work across a range of content from gripping dramas to live radio, gaining a recognised qualification while learning on the job.
Why Join the Team?Our Music and Entertainment division includes Daytime, Events, Irish Language and Specialist Music units. Daytime teams collaborate on popular podcast programmes such as The Easy Wellness Podcast, Sleep and Dream and Alright, Pet? They also support campaigns like Children In Need, Book Week and various outside broadcasts.
YourKey Responsibilities and Impact
- Audio editing and preparing music tracks for broadcast
- Researching and bidding for guests to interview
- Recording and editing social‑media content
- Music reporting and assisting with the organisation of payments
- Working on Outside Broadcasts such as Children In Need, Make A Difference and Station Christmas Launch
Learning blocks (up to a week at a time) will be delivered in‑person and virtually in partnership with our learning provider, working towards an industry‑recognised Level 3 Production Assistant qualification.
Your Skills and EligibilityWe value potential over formal qualifications. If you have the following, we encourage you to apply:
- Creative, able to pitch ideas for audio and social‑media content
- Enthusiastic with a can‑do attitude
- Comfortable picking up the phone to line‑up guests and speak to listeners
This scheme is aimed at non‑graduates. If you hold a degree, consider other BBC apprenticeship or job opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria- 18 years old or over by the start of the apprenticeship
- Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start
- Legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the apprenticeship duration
- Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme
- No prior learning required to apply
- Identify as disabled under the Equality Act (2010)
If you are under 19 at the start date, you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent functional skills. If not, you will need to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 by the end of the apprenticeship.
