We are primarily looking for someone with a background in Fashion Design, but we would also love to hear from Graphic Designers with a strong creative eye and a genuine interest in fashion, clothing and costume design.

We are open to both recent graduates and experienced designers. Previous professional experience is not essential for us, the most important things are creativity, a strong design portfolio, excellent Adobe Illustrator skills and a real instinct for fashion and design.

The Role You will work alongside our existing design and production teams to create original bespoke costumes for clients around the world. The role will involve: ?

Creating original fashion and costume designs using Adobe Illustrator ?

Developing concepts from initial inspiration through to detailed digital designs ?

Exploring silhouette, shape, proportion, colour, pattern and embellishment ?

Developing individual designs and colourways for clients ?

Creating graphic elements, patterns and motifs for embroidery, appliqué and crystal embellishment ?

Considering how two-dimensional graphics and design elements translate onto the body and across a three-dimensional garment ?

Working closely with our production team to develop designs from digital concepts into finished garments ?

Contributing new ideas and creative direction to future collections ?

Researching fashion, colour, textiles, graphics and emerging design trends Who Were Looking For You may be: ?

A Fashion Design graduate looking for your first opportunity in the industry ?

An experienced Fashion Designer looking for a new creative challenge ?

A Graphic Design graduate or experienced Graphic Designer with a keen interest in fashion and a strong instinct for how graphics, colour and pattern can translate into clothing and costume We arent looking for one particular level of experience. Talent, creativity and design ability are more important to us than the number of years youve worked in the industry. Essential Skills ?

Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator ?

Strong creative and conceptual design ability ?

A genuine interest in and understanding of fashion ?

A strong eye for colour, shape, proportion, pattern and detail ?

Strong digital drawing and illustration skills ?

Ability to generate original ideas and explore different creative directions ?

Ability to take a brief and develop it creatively ?

Excellent attention to detail ?

Ability to work collaboratively within a creative and production team Knowledge of garment construction, textiles, embroidery, embellishment or costume design would be beneficial, but is not essential. What Were Really Looking For Were looking for someone with a great eye. Someone who notices fashion, understands what looks current and exciting, loves colour and detail, and can bring their own creative ideas to a design rather than simply following a formula.

You dont need previous experience in Irish dance or performance costume. We can teach you the technical aspects of what we do. What we need you to bring is creativity, strong Adobe Illustrator skills and a genuine passion for design. About Eire Designs Based in Belfast, Eire Designs creates bespoke performance costumes for clients throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe, North America and internationally.

Our work sits at the intersection of fashion, costume and graphic design, combining silhouette, colour, pattern, embroidery, embellishment and craftsmanship to create highly individual garments.

How to Apply

Please send us your CV and portfolio. We welcome applications from both graduates and experienced designers. Graduate portfolios can include university projects, personal projects and concept work. Were particularly interested in seeing work that demonstrates original thinking, strong Adobe Illustrator ability and a distinctive creative eye
