Building & Fabric Designer
CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Building & Fabric Designer (HPTO) to join their team on a temporary contract, with possibility of extension.
- Pay Rate - £19.59 per hour
- Location – DoF, CPD Property Services Division – Clare House
- Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum
- Hours – 37 hours per week
- Project feasibility, brief development, production of scheme & detail design information, statutory approvals, site inspections & surveys.
- Managing the delivery of multi-disciplinary and architectural works projects (up to a value of £500k) in compliance with public sector procurement policy.
- Directing and supervising contractors undertaking works.
- Providing building, architectural and construction procurement advice to Client Departments and other public bodies and advising clients on a variety of building fabric & architectural related issues.
- Providing a professional interface with clients and other professionals; liaising with other professional and technical staff within the Team/ Branch/ Division and with client representatives to effectively maintain the Client’s property estate, to ensure satisfactory use for intended purpose & provide value for money.
- Managing, motivating and developing staff to maintain performance and project delivery, in compliance with all statutory, health and safety, policy, good practice requirements and associated guidance, complying fully with Departmental/Divisional, Statutory, Health & Safety and Audit requirements, applicable to all works undertaken.
- Assisting in the management of external consultants in the delivery of works/projects/professional services and in the assessment of submissions from external design teams.
- Assisting senior management in the delivery of works to meet with customer business objectives, budgets and programme commitments.
- Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships.
- Develop and maintain professional standards within the branch and apply these to achieve work objectives.
- Maintain and continuously develop professional knowledge and competence to provide a leading source of expertise and authoritative advice and ensure high professional standards and decision making.
Minimum:
An NVQ Level 4 qualification in Architecture / Architectural Technology / Building Construction / Building Studies
AND A minimum of 5 years’ relevant post‑qualification experience in the delivery of Architectural services/works in a maintenance environment, typically found in non‑domestic buildings. The post‑qualification experience shall include the delivery of micro & small works projects and the production of architectural/construction drawings, using computer aided design applications i.e., AutoCAD.
Desired Experience/QualificationsAn Honours Degree in Architecture / Architectural Technology / Building Construction / Building Surveying
AND A minimum of 3 years’ relevant post‑qualification experience in the delivery of Architectural services/works in a maintenance environment, typically found in non‑domestic buildings. The post qualification experience shall include the delivery of micro & small works projects and the production of architectural/construction drawings, using computer aided design applications i.e., AutoCAD.
Relevant or Equivalent QualificationsApplications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated. Please give the type of qualification and date awarded (the date awarded is the date on which you were notified of your result by the official awarding body). If you believe your qualification is equivalent to the one required, the onus is on you to provide the panel with details of modules studied etc so that a well‑informed decision can be made.
