McGirr Architects Ltd is a Belfast-based design-led architectural practice established in 1999. The practice delivers a broad range of architectural services, with a strong focus on commercial, community, educational and residential/social housing projects. The practice provides ongoing Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Role Summary

The Architectural Technologist will be responsible for the technical development and coordination of projects from planning through to construction stage. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge and the ability to integrate and coordinate multi disciplinary information into complete and comprehensive packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of detailed tender and construction drawing packages
  • Production of NBS specifications and associated documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with NI & Irish Building Regulations (ROI)
  • Coordinate closely with all design team members and contractors
  • Contribute to technical reviews and provide construction stage support
Person Specification Essential
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in an architectural practice
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of NI Building Regulations
  • Strong technical understanding of construction systems and detailing
  • Experience preparing NBS specifications
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage time and priorities across multiple schemes
  • A good eye for detail and commitment to design and documentation quality
  • Strong technical and report writing skills
Desirable
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Irish Building Regulations (ROI)
  • Experience using Revit and working within a BIM environment
  • Experience working within the NI planning system
