Senior Interior Architect

Criterion Capital is seeking an experienced and talented Senior Interior Architect to join our growing team, working across a range of high-quality residential, hospitality and mixed-use projects.

The Senior Interior Architect will take a leading role in the development and delivery of interior architecture projects, from concept through to technical design and construction. Working closely with the wider design, development and project teams, you will be responsible for developing design solutions, coordinating consultants and specialist contractors, and ensuring the design intent is successfully translated into high-quality, buildable outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical and design experience, with a proven background in hospitality, hotel, luxury residential or high-end commercial projects.

The Senior Interior Architect will lead the development and coordination of interior architectural packages, working closely with architects, consultants, contractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, within programme and in line with the agreed design intent.

• Lead the development of interior architectural concepts and design proposals in response to project briefs, budgets and programme requirements.
• Take responsibility for interior architecture packages from concept and developed design through to technical design and construction.
• Develop and coordinate detailed plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, finishes and interior architectural details.
• Lead the development of technical design packages, ensuring information is accurate, coordinated and suitable for construction.
• Coordinate interior architectural information with architectural, structural, MEP and other consultant designs.
• Work closely with Design Managers, Project Managers, architects, consultants, contractors and specialist subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead design coordination meetings and contribute to wider project design reviews.
• Review and develop technical details to ensure design solutions are practical, buildable and aligned with the overall design intent.
• Review contractor, consultant and specialist subcontractor drawings, samples, material submissions and technical proposals.
• Coordinate bespoke joinery, doors, ceilings, flooring, finishes, FF&E and other specialist interior packages.
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to develop design solutions and obtain technical information, samples, specifications and lead times.
• Undertake regular site visits and work closely with construction teams to resolve technical queries and design issues.
• Identify and proactively manage design coordination issues, risks and opportunities that could affect cost, programme or quality.
• Manage and respond to RFIs, technical queries and design changes throughout the construction process.
• Ensure design information is issued in accordance with project requirements and maintain a high standard of technical documentation.
• Work with the commercial and project teams to ensure design decisions remain commercially viable and aligned with project budgets.
• Support the Design Manager and wider project team in managing design consultants and specialist contractors where required.
• Contribute to the development of design standards, technical details and best practice across the wider project portfolio.
• Provide guidance and support to junior and midweight members of the interior design team.
• Contribute to maintaining a high standard of design quality and technical delivery across all projects.

• 6+ years' experience within interior architecture, architectural interiors or a similar design environment.
• Proven experience leading interior architecture projects from concept through to technical design and construction.
• Strong experience across hospitality, hotel, luxury residential or high-end commercial projects.
• Strong technical understanding of interior architecture, construction methods, materials and detailing.
• Excellent understanding of how interior architecture interfaces with architectural, structural and MEP disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of joinery, finishes, doors, ceilings, flooring and other interior architectural elements.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and relevant design software.
• Good knowledge of Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Strong technical drawing, detailing and documentation skills.
