Salary £300 (minimum) project fee, depending on experience and agreed scope. Materials and agreed sample-related costs will be covered separately by AMERELLE.
Hours Freelance project, estimated at approximately 3–5 days of work. Hours can be arranged flexibly depending on the maker and sampling process.
Location United Kingdom – flexible/remote, although applicants will need access to the equipment and workspace required to physically construct the sample.
AMERELLE is a new British accessories brand looking for a talented student or recent graduate to create the first physical prototype/sample of our debut bag, CORE 01.
The design direction, dimensions, materials and key features have already been developed. We are now looking for someone with strong practical making skills to bring the design to life as a physical sample.
The project will involve:
- Creating one physical prototype/sample bag from the existing AMERELLE design
- Developing the construction and pattern required to achieve the intended shape and proportions
- Working with nylon, leather or leather alternatives, hardware, zips and lining
- Constructing internal and external functional details
- Advising on construction where adjustments may improve the finished product
- Working collaboratively with the founder during the sampling process
- Making reasonable refinements during development to achieve the closest possible result to the supplied design
The completed sample will be used as the reference for future manufacturer development and production.
Skills and Experience RequiredWe are looking for someone with strong practical skills in accessories, bag making, fashion or soft product construction.
Applicants should ideally have:
- Experience physically constructing bags or accessories
- Strong sewing and construction skills
- Experience working with materials such as nylon, leather, PU or similar
- Understanding of linings, zips, straps, hardware and bag construction
- Excellent attention to detail and proportion
- Ability to interpret drawings, measurements and visual references
- Confidence problem-solving during the sampling process
Commercial experience is not essential. This could suit a current student or recent graduate with strong practical making skills and relevant portfolio work.
