Rate: £100 - £120ph. Negotiable

Locum (short-term and long-term assignments available)

ASAP for at least 1 year.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians United Kingdom /Ireland or equivalent qualification / training
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Endocrinology/ Diabetes via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date), CESR or European Community Rights
At least 1 year's experience working at consultant level in the NHS in an consultant post in Diabetes and Endocrinology
BRIEF
JOB DESCRIPTION
To take part in general medical on-call rotas for unscheduled admissions.
MIH medical on-call rota, 1 in 7
To participate in rotas for Consultant assessment and decision making functions within the medicine.
To participate in the delivery of specialist services in Diabetes and Endocrinology.
To deliver outpatient clinics as follows:
1.5 diabetes clinics per week in the Mater Hospital
1 diabetes in pregnancy clinic on alternate weeks in RJMH
1 general endocrine clinic per week in the Mater Hospital
To deliver inpatient endocrine and diabetes consultations and to support other professionals in this area
Ensure that clinical ward rounds are scheduled to facilitate twice daily senior decision making and appropriate discharge of patients including supporting nurse facilitated discharge.
All inpatients should have a discharge-focused treatment plan within 24 hours of admission including an expected date of discharge.
To work proactively with patient flow teams to ensure effective bed utilisation.
Actively engage in both simple and complex discharges.
To ensure good communication with colleagues, patients and their families at all times
