Teacher - Primary
Reports to:
Principal
- Plan and prepare courses and lessons.
- Teach pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
- Assess, record and report on pupil development, progress and attainment.
- Promote general progress and well-being of pupils.
- Provide advice and guidance to pupils on educational and social matters and future careers.
- Record and report on personal and social needs of pupils.
- Communicate and consult with parents.
- Co-operate with external bodies approved by the employing authority.
- Participate in meetings for curriculum and pastoral arrangements.
- Maintain order and discipline among pupils in accordance with policy.
- Participate in meetings relating to curriculum administration and pastoral arrangements.
- Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for public examinations and assessing pupils for such examinations.
- Take part in review and development of management activities and administration.
- Hold a teaching qualification recognised to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
- Minimum 1 year post-qualification demonstrable experience of teaching a primary school class to achieve positive learning outcomes.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a socially deprived area, including meeting needs of pupils with SEN.
- Registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up post.
- Knowledge of Northern Ireland Curriculum, Safeguarding and Child Protection policy, SEND Code of Practice, and current assessment methods.
- Effective teaching and classroom management skills.
- Proven ability to provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to use initiative, solve problems, be flexible, work collaboratively.
- Experience of teaching Literacy using the Talk for Writing Approach.
- Experience of assisting with a whole school drama production.
- Experience of teaching P6 at Key Stage 2 to achieve positive learning outcomes.
