Youth Worker

Get Set to help young people in Belfast rebuild confidence, find direction and move forward when life has knocked them off course.

This role is about standing alongside young people who may not trust systems, services or themselves yet.

Your work helps them reengage with learning, build resilience and take real steps towards education, training or employment.

Some young people will arrive unsure, guarded or frustrated. Progress may start with small wins. Turning up. Completing a task. Staying engaged for another week.

You will work in a structured youth and learning environment with clear safeguarding, quality and outcome expectations. You will collaborate with colleagues, partners and funders who care about longterm impact.

Essential

• Experience supporting young people facing barriers
• Ability to engage, motivate and challenge appropriately
• Strong organisation and recordkeeping
• APGCE, CIT, or Level 3/4 youth work qualification that includes planning, delivering and evaluating learning with young people
• OR a willingness to start the CIT within 2 years of joining if Youth Worker qualification already in place.
• Experience delivering youth programmes or qualifications in personal development or employability
• Confidence working with young people who face multiple barriers to engagement

Trainable

• Funded programme and qualification frameworks
• Additional teaching or training qualifications

You may start with a group session, followed by onetoone reviews. You will update plans, liaise with colleagues and check in with a young person who has missed sessions. Some days move smoothly. Others require patience and calm problem solving.
