Education & Training Co-Ordinator About Nexus Nexus is a Northern Ireland wide charity and 2024 marked 40 years of providing services in supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse and abusive relationships. Every year in Northern Ireland there are thousands of sexual offences reported to PSNI, and thousands more that go unreported. Without specialist support like ours, victims of these crimes will find it even harder to deal with the trauma they experience.

The impact of this trauma can be devastating and is lifelong. We deliver a range of bespoke and specialised supports and services including:
Trauma informed counselling to those affected by sexual assault and trauma from age 8 Post counselling support and follow-up A UK wide 24 hour Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline, which is funded by the Department of Health, Department of Justice, and the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland Education and Training initiatives delivered to a breadth of organisations, professionals, parents, schools and young people on topics such as consent, child sexual exploitation, handling disclosures and healthy relationships.

Purpose of the Role The Education Officer will lead on the design, delivery, and development of education and prevention activity under the Strategic Framework to End Violence Against Women and Girls led by The Executive Office (TEO) in Northern Ireland. The postholder will contribute directly to the strategys prevention priority, supporting cultural and attitudinal change by delivering high-quality, trauma-informed education programmes.

This includes work with schools, youth settings, community groups, professionals, and wider audiences to challenge harmful attitudes, promote healthy relationships, and prevent violence before it occurs. The role requires a strong understanding of gender-based violence, effective educational practice, and the Northern Ireland policy and safeguarding context.

Key Responsibilities Education & Prevention Delivery Design, deliver and adapt educational workshops, training sessions and awareness programmes aligned with the EVAWG Strategic Framework and Delivery Plan priorities, particularly prevention and early intervention. Deliver age-appropriate, inclusive and accessible education on topics such as healthy relationships, consent, respect, gender equality, bystander intervention and online harms. Ensure all education activity is trauma-informed, person-centred and underpinned by feminist and rights-based principles.

Programme Development Contribute to the development of evidence-based training, session plans and learning resources aligned with TEO EVAWG outcomes. Support continuous improvement of education programmes using feedback, evaluation data and emerging best practice. Adapt materials for delivery across diverse settings including schools, colleges, community organisations and professional audiences. Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain positive working relationships with schools, youth services, community and voluntary organisations, statutory partners, corporate partners and funders.
