Rutland Adult & Community Learning is looking for versatile and enthusiastic Casual Adult Learning Tutors who can bring learning to life for adults across Rutland. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your subject expertise to inspire learners, build confidence, support skills development and help adults achieve meaningful outcomes that can positively impact their wellbeing. You will deliver high-quality, inclusive learning in welcoming community settings, including libraries and other local venues, taking learning directly into the heart of our communities.
We are particularly interested in hearing from tutors with expertise in Functional Skills English, Digital Courses and Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
.
- Communicate effectively with learners, staff and partners
- Use a range of teaching methods to meet different learner needs
- Maintain accurate records and meet course administration requirements
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of learning
To be successful you will need:
- A qualification in your subject specialism to Level 4 equivalence, or in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area
- Experience of teaching, training or working with adult groups for at least 10 weeks
- An understanding of adult learning principles including planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation
- You will be able to adapt your teaching to the cohort you have, identifying when extra support may be needed
As an Adult Learning Tutor you will support learners before, during and after their course, helping them build confidence and progress in their learning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering well-structured adult learning sessions
- Supporting learners to achieve agreed learning outcomes
- Completing lesson plans, schemes of work, registers and learner records, including individual learning plans
- Creating inclusive learning opportunities for a diverse range of abilities and learning styles
- Contributing to course reviews, quality assurance and self‑assessment activities
As travel around the county is required at times, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.
The successful applicant for this post will be subject to enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.
