Summary:
** Assistant Send Caseworker - Grade 4 - Pro Rata Salary £12,791 - £13,201 This is a Part Time, Permanent position An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the SEND Team as an Assistant SEND Caseworker.
You will administer efficiently, under the direction of the responsible SEND Caseworker, the statutory duties of the Local Authority as set out in the Children and Families Act (2014) and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice (2015) regarding the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment, planning and review process.
Through a range of administrative tasks, you will contribute to the day to day delivery of an efficient statutory SEND service.
This position requires ICT skills as it involves following established processes to administer statutory duties.
If the postholder requires a Standard or Enhanced DBS disclosure the candidate is required to declare full details of everything on their criminal record unless the conviction/s and/or caution/s are considered “protected” in line with filtering rules for DBS checks.
ROLE AND PURPOSE To administer efficiently, under the direction of the responsible Caseworker, the statutory duties of the Local Authority as set out in the Children and Families Act ( 2014) and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice (2015) regarding the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment, planning and review process;
To contribute to the day to day delivery of an efficient statutory SEND service through the completion of a range of administrative tasks;
To provide a front line service to ensure the delivery of quality advice to parents, schools and other services regarding the statutory processes;
To deliver an efficient and effective Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment, planning and review process to children and young people, educational establishments, health, social care and other stakeholders;
To act as first point of contact for a wide range of written and oral queries from internal and external stakeholders in relation to all SEN matters;
To maintain and update on a regular basis, the information held on the SEN service files and databases and retrieve data as required. Ensure that client confidentiality is maintained in line with City Council Policy;
To work within Statutory Guidelines, prioritising work and deadlines where required.
** PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
** 1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
2. Administer the statutory EHC needs assessment, planning and review process to support the production of quality EHC plans and Reviews, working within and supporting adherence to statutory deadlines.
3. To provide a high quality and efficient first point of contact for parents, young people, professionals and the wider public.
4. To provide support to the SEND Caseworker in the completion of EHC needs assessments and reviews through effective liaison with parents and other agencies and stakeholders.
5. Organise a variety of meetings within statutory and procedural timescales as directed. Where appropriate and agreed, ensure the provision of additional support for families to access meetings.
6. Routinely and accurately maintain and update the information held on SEN service files and databases etc. Retrieve data and provide management information as required 7. To monitor and administer financial functions, eg; processing and raising invoices, maintain/update the mainstream school funding process, to ensure the information is up to date and corporate policy and procedures are adhered too.
