We're recruiting an exceptional Lead Teacher to lead a specialist Communication & Autism Base while providing advisory outreach support to schools across the local area.
This is a unique opportunity to influence not only the pupils within your own provision but also the wider education community through coaching, training and specialist guidance.
About the RoleYou’ll lead the day-to-day operation of a specialist Communication & Autism Base, creating an environment where pupils with communication and interaction needs can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Alongside leading your own team, you’ll work directly with mainstream schools, observing pupils, providing specialist advice, recommending classroom strategies and supporting colleagues to develop inclusive practice.
This is a highly rewarding leadership position that combines teaching, strategic development, outreach and staff development into one varied role.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a specialist Communication & Autism Base.
- Inspire and manage a dedicated team of teachers and teaching assistants.
- Deliver outstanding teaching and learning for pupils with Autism and Communication & Interaction needs.
- Provide advisory outreach support to mainstream schools.
- Deliver CPD and training to colleagues across education settings.
- Monitor pupil progress using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Build strong partnerships with families, health professionals and external agencies.
- Promote inclusive practice and ensure excellent outcomes for every learner.
You’ll ideally have:
- QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification).
- Experience working with Autism, Communication & Interaction needs and SEND.
- Leadership experience within education.
- Excellent knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.
- Experience supporting colleagues through coaching, mentoring or CPD.
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
- A passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.
This is far more than a classroom-based teaching role.
You’ll influence whole-school practice, support mainstream colleagues, lead a specialist provision and play a key role in shaping inclusive education for children with Autism and Communication & Interaction needs.
