Job Description & How to Apply Below

This is a part-time role, 25 hours a week.

The role

This is a fantastic opportunity to support high-profile energy programmes that tackle fuel poverty, promote sustainable energy, and contribute directly to the net zero transition.

As Assistant Programme Manager, you will support the Programme Manager in the delivery and smooth operation of Energy Saving Trust’s Northern Ireland programmes, including the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP). You’ll be involved in programme administration, financial monitoring, reporting, stakeholder engagement and governance, ensuring funding is managed effectively and in line with agreed frameworks.

The team

The Northern Ireland team sits within the Energy Directorate of Energy Saving Trust. In Northern Ireland, our main focus is delivering the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP), but we also engage in other areas of work and deliver campaigns helping NI householders save energy and money.

There are currently four programme support officers who work very closely to support each other in delivering NISEP and report into the project manager of the team. The team also includes an assistant programme manager and is headed up by the programme manager for NI. The team collaborates with external stakeholders regularly and other teams of Energy Saving Trust.

What You Will Do
  • Support the administration and delivery of NISEP and other Northern Ireland programmes
  • Manage grant and payment claims, ensuring compliance with SLAs and programme frameworks
  • Maintain accurate financial records and oversee grant spend using CRM systems
  • Produce written and numerical reports, including interim and annual programme reporting
  • Contribute to the drafting and updating of programme frameworks and guidance documents
  • Liaise with Primary Bidders, regulators, and key stakeholders
  • Support governance processes, audits and compliance (including ISO standards)
  • Represent Energy Saving Trust at meetings, workshops and events across Northern Ireland
  • Support wider organisational objectives around decarbonisation and energy efficiency
What You Will Bring
  • Experience working with grant programmes, funding schemes or public sector projects
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of financial processes, budgets and reporting
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and meet deadlines
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
