SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER

THE ROLE

The Networking Technology and Solution IP Group at AMD is adding to the Data Centre design team in Belfast. We focus on design and verification of ASIC blocks for next generation data centre networking, focusing on the needs of AI clusters for training and inference; covering the entire design cycle across: architecture, algorithm design and modelling, block specification, RTL design, test planning, verification and end‑to‑end validation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

We are seeking a highly motivated Silicon Design Engineer Graduate to join our team and work towards design, build, and delivery of AMD’s high‑end products. You will contribute to real silicon design projects, collaborate with global teams, and learn industry‑standard EDA tools and flows. You’ll be helping build AMD next generation AI products.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • You are a final‑year student or a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with VHDL or Verilog/System Verilog is required
  • Experience in designing digital hardware systems and developing hardware architectures for algorithm implementation would be a plus
  • Experience using ASIC and/or FPGA simulation and synthesis tools
  • Experience with UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) or Formal Verification would be an advantage
  • Experience in C/C++, Python, Perl, TCL for scripting and testbench development would be an advantage
  • Experience of leveraging AI tools would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with AMD products (including CPU & GPU) would be an advantage
  • You are comfortable in a fast‑paced environment and are able to adapt quickly to new technologies
  • You are a clear communicator and collaborative team player with a growth mindset
  • Passionate about semiconductor/digital design
  • Work well in teams across different sites and time zones
  • Show strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Are eager to learn and take on technical challenges
