Principal Structural Engineer
Principal Structural Engineer – Belfast office. This role leads delivery of complex, high‑profile projects across residential, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership, overseeing project teams, ensuring quality and compliance, mentoring junior engineers, engaging with clients, and contributing to strategic growth of our structural engineering practice in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and deliver the technical aspects of projects or designated work packages, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
- Manage the end‑to‑end technical delivery of projects, from interpreting client briefs to coordinating designs across multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee and support engineers and technicians, ensuring deliverables are aligned with project schedules and performance expectations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure all designs and project outputs comply with health and safety standards, company quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and career progression within the organisation.
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) with a recognised professional body such as ICE or IStruct
E. - Proven experience delivering structural engineering projects, including managing technical design and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience overseeing engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with senior stakeholders and build effective professional relationships.
- In‑depth knowledge of relevant design standards, health and safety regulations, and quality assurance processes.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Proficiency in industry‑standard structural analysis and design software.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
