Job Description Overview
Shape a faster, smarter, safer future. As a Principal Engineer in our Transportation team, you will play a pivotal role in implementing ideas that shape the future of how we move. You’ll collaborate on projects of various scales, ranging from new build to renewal, maintenance, and assessment works for leading clients across the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities- Provide technical guidance on highway infrastructure projects.
- Mentor and coach team members and take responsibility for their technical development.
- Liaise with key clients to discuss design and technical solutions to stakeholders.
- Liaise with Practice Managers to ensure that projects are sufficiently resourced.
- Delegate work to team members, set deliverables and monitor progress.
- Identify and respond to project commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support business development by representing the organization at networking events, preparing bids and tenders and building and maintaining relationships with internal and external clients.
- Experience building strong and sustainable relationships with clients.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills, able to build and motivate teams across practices.
- Hard working, flexible, reliable, proactive, and able to keep cool under pressure and demanding deadlines.
- Disciplined thinker and analytical, numerate problem‑solver with strategic judgement and ability to develop effective solutions in a timely fashion.
- Resourceful, articulate, clear communicator who can influence others through sound judgement.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently and within a larger multi‑discipline team, leading and managing packages of work to completion.

This role may require security clearance; offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process may require proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
