Our Engineering Apprenticeship is created to enhance learning and growth through a combination of study and on‑the‑job learning. At no additional cost, you will achieve an Integrated Degree along with the opportunity to apply your learning in the real world and become a fully qualified Electronics Engineer.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll be guided by Senior Engineering leaders who will help you to grow and develop. You’ll also get the opportunity to work independently as well as within a team while learning how to thrive in high pressured environments.

What you’ll be doing

This apprenticeship is an exciting one as you will study a range of specialisms including the design and implementation of networks using communications and signal processing, engineering management, and instrumentation and control systems.

You’ll have the opportunity to tailor the course to your interests, choosing to specialise in your preferred area. The Technology Development Team in Network Rail will support you to ultimately develop, test and manufacture safety critical, high reliability systems used on UK rail infrastructure. We’ll teach you how to lead people and teams as well as helping create a safe and sustainable environment for everyone.

There’s plenty of learning in this scheme, you will be taught the core knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to get you on the path to achieving your Incorporated Engineer (IEng) qualification.

You’ll need to have one of:

  • A Level BTEC including Mathematics PLUS physics, physical science, engineering science, computer science, technology, or other science or technology subject.
  • DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a science or technology-based subject (including passes in mathematics and two other science or technology-based modules).
  • Merit overall from a T level qualification – this must include a B in Core and can be from any engineering specific T level.
  • A combination of qualifications which must include mathematics or a mathematics-based subject and may include L3 Apprenticeship, AS levels, EPQ and general studies.
  • Access to HE Diploma with at least 15 Level 3 credits at merit grade or above, in a Maths or Engineering programme including mathematics.
What you’ll get out of it

You’ll complete a Level 6 degree apprenticeship, studying for a Beng (honours) Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (Integrated Degree). This apprenticeship aligns with Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) for Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
