Our 130 strong Belfast Design Hub delivers a range of local, national and international projects for clients including Department for Infrastructure Roads, Translink, National Highways, Transport Scotland and Network Rail. Our multidisciplinary team encapsulates Highway Engineering, Bridge/Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, River & Coastal Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Traffic Engineering/Transport Planning, as well as being the BIM Centre of Excellence for Amey.

30M A565 North Liverpool Key Corridor Dualling The Belfast Geotechnical Team Our Ground Engineering Team in Belfast has a total of 15 geotechnical practitioners, comprising experienced Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists, which play a pivotal role on all our major and minor civil/structural engineering schemes. Our core geotechnical consultancy services include the following:
Desk Studies / Feasibility Assessments  Ground Investigations – scoping, planning, procuring, supervising and reporting Design of earthworks, rock slopes, reinforced soil, foundations, retaining structures and ground improvement schemes Technical review and Geotechnical Risk Analysis  Geotechnical Asset Management In addition, the Belfast Ground Engineering Team provide input into Contract Documents and Health and Safety Documents for Tendering Construction Packages, while offering design support to multi-discipline site teams during construction works on all geotechnical elements.

The role As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to the Principal Engineer and/or Technical Director on a variety of ground engineering schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities include:

Leading a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions. Taking ownership and leading projects from start to finish, from preparing the quotation all the way to handover. Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme. Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions.

Contributing to the professional development of junior staff and acting as a Delegated Engineer. Liaising with Client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries.
