What You'll Be Doing Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll lead the design and development of new and existing products, ensuring designs meet customer requirements, manufacturing capability and industry standards. Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and developing new products and improving existing designs. Producing 3D models, detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation. Leading projects from concept, prototyping and testing through to full production release. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure products are optimised for efficient manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA). Collaborating with Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams to resolve technical challenges. Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and engineering change processes.
Carrying out design calculations, engineering analysis and product validation where required. Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards, specifications and customer requirements. Identifying opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction and value engineering. Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance across the engineering team. Supporting customer meetings and technical discussions when required. What We're Looking For A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related engineering discipline.
Several years' experience within a Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer position. Strong 3D CAD experience (Solid Works, Creo, Inventor, Solid Edge or similar). Experience designing products for manufacture within a regulated manufacturing environment. A strong understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes and assembly techniques. Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and engineering change management. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments. A proactive approach with a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
