Competitive, with company benefits About Charles Brand Founded in 1829, Charles Brand Group Limited is an established civil engineering contractor delivering complex projects throughout the UK. We are part of the Lagan Specialist Contracting Group. We work across the marine, coastal, rail, transportation, water and wastewater sectors, delivering flood protection, port and harbour, renewable energy and major infrastructure schemes. We are seeking a motivated Environmental Graduate to support environmental management, sustainability and tendering across our business.
The Role Working with our HSEQ, Pre-Construction and project teams, you will:
Support the preparation and implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans. Undertake environmental inspections, audits and site monitoring. Help manage environmental risks, permits, consents and legal compliance. Support controls relating to waste, water quality, noise, dust, ecology and pollution prevention. Collect and analyse carbon, energy, fuel, water, materials and waste data. Assist with sustainability, carbon-reduction and social value initiatives. Prepare environmental reports, presentations and performance information.
Draft clear, evidence-based environmental, sustainability and quality responses for prequalification questionnaires and tender submissions. Review tender requirements and gather supporting policies, data, case studies and project evidence. Work with colleagues, clients, consultants, regulators and supply-chain partners to promote environmental good practice. Essential Requirements A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Geography, Ecology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A strong academic result in English Language, or another school subject requiring a high standard of written communication, analysis and attention to detail.
A high level of IT literacy and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. Ability to analyse information and prepare clear, accurate and professionally presented documents. Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to meet submission deadlines. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Willingness to travel and work on projects throughout the UK.
Desirable Requirements Relevant work placement, internship or construction-industry experience. Experience in technical writing, report preparation, bid writing or assessment responses. Awareness of prequalification and construction tendering. Knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO 14001 or ISO 9001. Understanding of carbon management and sustainable construction. Student or graduate membership of IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM or a similar professional body. CSCS or CSR card, although training can be provided.
