The successful candidate will work closely with clients, architects, M&E consultants, electricians and the sales team, developing lighting designs and technical solutions across a range of projects. This is a non-managerial role, with full training and support provided to help the successful candidate develop their technical knowledge and grow within the business.
The Role As a Graduate Lighting Design Engineer, you will be involved in:
Developing professional lighting schemes and technical drawings using AutoCAD Producing lighting calculations, layouts and 3D visualisations using DIALux evo and/or Relux Developing lighting control solutions to suit different environments, applications and client requirements Supporting the programming, commissioning and technical support of lighting control systems, including Casambi, Lutron RA3, Lutron Home Works QS and VIVE Liaising with architects, M&E consultants, electricians and clients Attending site visits where required Producing manufacturing and technical drawings for bespoke lighting products based on client specifications Providing technical support and advice to the sales team and customers Keeping up to date with new lighting products, technologies, standards and industry developments Supporting projects from initial design through to development and delivery Working closely with the wider team to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard About You We are keen to hear from recent graduates and junior-level candidates who have a strong technical mindset, excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in lighting, design and technology.
You may have: A degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline Graduates from Product Design or Interior Design backgrounds will also be considered Knowledge of, or an interest in, lighting design and/or lighting controls Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit or similar design software
Experience with DIALux evo or Relux would be advantageous The ability, or enthusiasm to learn, to produce lighting calculations, technical drawings, sketches and reports Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design and problem solving An interest in developing expertise in lighting controls and system commissioning A passion for lighting, design and technology Good communication skills and the confidence to work with clients, consultants, contractors and colleagues
Experience with lighting controls is desirable but not essential. The business is also open to candidates with a strong electrical, engineering or design background who are enthusiastic about developing their knowledge and building a long-term career within the lighting industry.
