Join the Nuclear Graduates programme to support nuclear site regulation and gain diverse sector experience over two years with leading UK nuclear organisations.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the regulation of nuclear licensed sites as part of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) specialist chemistry team.
  • Engaging in chemistry aspects related to design, construction, operation, and decommissioning of various reactor types and fuel cycle/waste management facilities.
  • Conducting inspections on nuclear licensed sites and assessing chemistry aspects of safety case submissions.
  • Working on reactor chemistry to maintain coolant loops, prevent corrosion, and minimise radioactive activation products.
  • Contributing to spent fuel management and chemical processes for radioactive waste treatment, immobilisation, and conditioning for safe storage and disposal.
  • Supporting chemical processes for nuclear fuel production, including new High Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU) fuels.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with licensees, government bodies, and international partners.
  • Communicating clearly, working collaboratively, influencing appropriately, and making sound judgements.
About You

The company is looking for:

  • A BSc or MSc degree in Chemistry with a minimum 2:2 classification.
  • Strong technical capability combined with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team environment.
  • Self-awareness including understanding personal limits and when to seek support.
  • Right to work in the UK for the duration of the two-year programme.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and relocate as required.
  • Successful completion of security clearance checks.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary of £30,000 per year.
  • £5,500 individual travel budget for training and meetings.
  • £3,500 flexible individual training budget.
