Your new company A leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its established Building Engineering team in Belfast. Your new role As a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role within the Building Services team, leading the design and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across a range of multidisciplinary projects. Responsibilities will include:
Leading mechanical building services projects from concept through detailed design and delivery. Developing mechanical system strategies and sustainable engineering solutions. Coordinating with architects, clients and multidisciplinary design teams. Overseeing thermal comfort and building performance analysis. Managing the production of calculations, models, drawings, reports and specifications. Ensuring projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality standards. Managing resources and supporting the development of junior engineers.

Building strong client relationships and attending project meetings. Contributing to fee proposals, project bids and work-winning activities. Supporting the integration of low-carbon and renewable technologies into project designs. What you'll need to succeed You will have a strong background in Mechanical Building Services Engineering gained within a consultancy or design environment, together with experience delivering complex projects from concept through to completion.

To be considered, you should have: A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline. Significant experience in mechanical building services design. Experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary projects. Strong knowledge of mechanical building systems, design standards and industry regulations. An interest in sustainable design, energy efficiency and carbon reduction. Experience integrating renewable technologies and carrying out suitability assessments.

Knowledge of IES or similar building performance modelling software would be advantageous. Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills. Commercial awareness, including project planning, resource management and fee preparation. Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE or IMechE would be beneficial but is not essential. Applications are also welcomed from experienced engineers currently working towards chartership.
