Full-time, permanent The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Energy Infrastructure Consultant to join a major facilities and estates operation in Belfast. Working across a large and diverse estate of 70+ buildings covering approximately 350,000m, you will provide specialist technical expertise across energy management, sustainability, HVAC and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS). This is a highly varied role combining technical analysis, energy performance, building services and sustainability.

You will identify opportunities to reduce energy and utility consumption, improve building performance and support the client's longer-term sustainability and estate strategy.

Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyse energy, water and waste performance across a large property portfolio. Produce monthly, six-monthly and annual energy and sustainability performance reports. Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, utility costs and carbon impact. Develop robust business cases for energy-saving and infrastructure improvement projects. Manage and support energy audits across the estate, producing clear technical reports and recommendations. Analyse complex energy and building-performance data and translate findings into practical improvement actions.

Support the effective operation and optimisation of Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS). Respond to BEMS-related technical issues and coordinate appropriate remedial actions. Provide technical guidance relating to HVAC and building-services systems. Support planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities from an energy and technical perspective. Support compliance with relevant energy and environmental legislation, including Display Energy Certificate (DEC) and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) requirements.

Develop and maintain contingency plans relating to potential loss of utility supplies. Maintain accurate records and databases covering estate plant, equipment and energy performance. Provide technical input into capital investment projects, asset-management programmes and maintenance strategies. Support the development and delivery of Energy and Sustainability Asset Management Plans. Work closely with internal teams, contractors and client stakeholders to identify and implement energy-efficiency improvements.

Keep up to date with emerging technologies, energy-management practices and developments within building engineering. Ensure activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. About You We are looking for an experienced technical professional with a strong background in energy management, sustainability, building services or mechanical engineering. You should be comfortable analysing technical information, identifying energy-efficiency opportunities and communicating recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ideally, you will have: NVQ Level 6 or an equivalent qualification/level of experience within building services, mechanical engineering, energy or a related technical discipline. Strong knowledge of energy management, sustainability and building-services systems. Practical knowledge of HVAC and BEMS/BMS systems. Experience conducting or supporting energy audits. Demonstrable experience identifying opportunities to reduce energy and utility consumption. Knowledge of relevant energy and environmental legislation and standards, including ESOS and DECs.

Understanding of carbon accounting and recognised energy-auditing methodologies. Knowledge of standards/frameworks such as ISO 50002, CIBSE TM22, PAS 2050 or the GHG Protocol would be advantageous. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical and consumption data. Excellent technical report-writing skills. Strong stakeholder and customer relationship management skills. Good commercial and financial awareness. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects. Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Professional membership of an organisation such as CIBSE or the Energy Institute would be advantageous. Additional Information This is a site-based Belfast position…
