Purchase Ledger Team Leader

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Purchase Ledger Team Leader to join a busy finance department. In this key role, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day running of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely processing across the team. You’ll lead a motivated group of purchase ledger professionals, drive operational improvements, and work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver an exceptional service.

• Lead, support, and develop the PL team, promoting a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
• Oversee workloads and ensure SLAs and deadlines are consistently met.

• Manage high volumes of invoices and PL mailbox activity, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
• Monitor KPIs and champion best practices across the P2P process.

• Work closely with operational teams, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve queries and maintain strong working relationships.
• Ensure all activity adheres to strict internal controls and audit requirements.
• Support the wider finance team and shared serivce centre with system changes and upgrades.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and the ledger function.

• Proven background leading or supervising teams within a finance transactional services environment.

• Excellent numeracy and communication skills.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confident using MS Office, inc. advanced Excel.

• A-Levels plus GCSEs in Maths & English (C or above).
• AAT or a relevant degree is desirable but not essential.
