Finance Officer

MCS Group are currently seeking a detail-oriented Finance Officer to join a respected public sector organisation on a 3-month temporary contract.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within a large public sector finance function, supporting key financial processes and providing essential support to budget holders and managers.

• Assisting with budget and financial planning discussions
• Supporting the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
• Responding to finance queries from managers and non‑finance colleagues
• Supporting budget monitoring, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
• Assisting with general finance and accounting administration

• Previous experience in a finance or accounts‑based role
• Confidence with accounting principles and ideally experience with management accounts
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good IT skills, including Excel and finance systems
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• 3-month temporary role, with potential for extension
• Competitive hourly rate
