The Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller with a strong commercial mindset to lead the financial operations of their construction and civil engineering businesses. With combined turnover of £50M and 100 employees, this is a senior role offering board-level exposure and the opportunity to provide strategic financial guidance. You will manage the finance team, oversee reporting, forecasting, and cashflow, and implement systems and processes to ensure accurate and timely financial information while driving continuous improvement across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Senior Management, Board, and stakeholders. Budgeting & Forecasting:
Develop and manage the annual budget, monitor performance, and provide variance analysis. Financial Analysis:
Conduct in-depth analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. Cash Flow Management:
Oversee cash management to support operations and projects. Cost Control:
Implement effective cost control measures and work closely with commercial teams for accurate project reporting. Compliance & Audit:
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, coordinate audits, and manage relationships with auditors. Team Leadership:
Mentor and supervise the finance team, promoting professional development and accuracy. Stakeholder Communication:
Present financial insights and recommendations to senior management and project teams.

Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate financial risks. Qualifications &

Experience:

Full member of a recognised accountancy body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience with 10+ years relevant experience. Minimum 5 years in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry, or 10 years of progressive relevant experience. Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and construction financial management. Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
