Directly to the General Manager About McSweeney Trust McSweeney Trust (formerly known as Ashton Centre Development Limited) is a community-based regeneration charity that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the North Belfast community by providing quality, affordable physical properties to benefit the local community in North Belfast. McSweeney Trust currently owns six buildings which were built or re-furbished to help regenerate the area and provide social and economic opportunities for local people.
These are the Ashton Centre, The McSweeney Centre, the Mount Lennox Complex, the Duncairn Complex, 529 Antrim Road, and 16 Alliance Avenue. .About the Role We are seeking a highly organised and dependable Accounts and Administrative Officer to support the smooth day-to-day operation of the organisation. This role involves a range of structured, recurring tasks carried out on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
The post-holder will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting financial processes, and ensuring routine administrative tasks are completed efficiently and on time. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys working to clear processes, managing deadlines, and being a trusted support within a small team of four directly employed staff.
Key Responsibilities Financial & Accounts Operations Issue rent, service charge and utility recharge invoices for commercial and residential tenants on a monthly basis Maintain sales and purchase ledgers including accurately coding and inputting of invoices To ensure financial policies and procedures are in line with best practice and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Process supplier invoices and payments accurately and within agreed timelines Monitor expenditure, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues where appropriate Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice or payment queries Process monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance and year end returns to the HMRC.
To prepare and provide financial information to the McSweeney Trust Management & Board on a monthly basis Develop, implement and ensure compliance with internal financial controls, financial and accounting policies and procedures in line with charity finance regulations. Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with statutory requirements. Compile accounts schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors Prepare the annual budget in consultation with the General Manager Contract & Compliance Support Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of service level agreements Track contract renewals, annual charges, and key contractual deadlines Support financial reviews, reporting cycles, and internal controls General Administration Maintain well-organised digital and physical filing systems Liaise professionally with suppliers, service providers, and internal stakeholders Provide general administrative and operational support to the General Manager as required Maintaining a strict code of confidentiality with all matters regarding the service.
Attend conferences/seminars to develop knowledge, understanding and skills required to keep up to date with current and emerging issues relating to accounting, reporting, financial control, risk management, tax, management and leadership, and governance. Ensure staff policies and procedures are updated regularly to comply with legislation. Any other reasonable duties within the scope of the post as may be required by the Management and or Board of Trustees.
