Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role located at our Belfast headquarters.
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the operations & finance team with daily accounting activities including managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budgeting and audits. You will also help ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations, and collaborate with other departments to manage financial data effectively. Maintaining records and processing payroll may also be part of your responsibilities.
What you will do:- Processing and reconciling accounts payable invoices, supplier statements and payment runs
- Managing accounts receivable, issuing invoices, allocating payments and following up on outstanding balances
- Performing bank reconciliations, petty cash and credit card reconciliations
- Assisting with general ledger postings, journals and accruals
- Supporting month-end and year-end close procedures, preparing supporting schedules and reports
- Assisting with VAT returns, payroll preparation support and compliance tasks
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring data integrity
- Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management
- Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal departments to resolve queries
- Supporting senior finance staff with continuous improvement and finance projects
- Assist in the preparation & submission of funding claims to Innvoate UK, Invest NI & other government bodies
- Additional duties as requested by Management
- Part qualified or qualified Accounting Technician or QBE
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Excellent numerical skills, and advanced Excel skills
- Strong demonstrable experience of financial and accounting tools and software
- Planning and organisational skills, and a high attention to detail
- IT skills (MS Office, Google Workspace), with the ability to grasp a variety of platforms and systems quickly
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, and solid writing skills
- Experience working in an Engineering/Technical environment is desirable
- Experience working in a start-up is desirable
