Belfast Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our client's finance team in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting career within a supportive and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the wider finance team with month-end processes and reporting.

Key Responsibilities Processing purchase and sales invoices Bank reconciliations and cash allocation Preparing and posting journals Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures Reconciling supplier and customer accounts Supporting credit control and accounts payable activities Processing employee expenses Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory reporting Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and analysis Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve account queries About You The ideal candidate will have: 3+ years experience in an accounts or finance role A good understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles Experience using accounting software (such as Sage, Xero, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) Strong Microsoft Excel skills Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills The ability to work independently as well as part of a team Strong communication and problem-solving skills Desirable AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or a similar accounting qualification

Experience with month-end processes Knowledge of VAT procedures
