Finance Officer

Your new company Hays are delighted to be partnering with a well-established environmental and not-for-profit organisation delivering a significant cross-border programme funded through a major public sector funding initiative. This organisation plays a key role in supporting collaboration, research and policy development across a range of environmental and sustainability projects throughout the island of to continued growth and project funding, they are seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join their team on a long-term fixed-term contract.

Your new role Reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the wider finance function, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day financial support and oversight for a large-scale, externally funded responsibilities will include:
Budget monitoring, forecasting and cashflow management Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions Performing reconciliations and supporting month-end processes Preparing financial reports, management information and variance analysis Assisting with financial returns and claims submission to funding bodies Supporting procurement activities and ensuring compliance with funding regulations Maintaining accurate financial records and audit-ready documentation Assisting with payroll processing and payroll administration Providing financial guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders Supporting governance, risk management and financial control processes What you'll need to succeed AAT, IATI or equivalent accounting qualification with at least 2 years' relevant finance experience;

alternatively, 5 years' experience in a similar finance role Previous experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero or similar systems Strong payroll administration experience Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting

Experience with reconciliations, month-end processes and management accounts support Knowledge of audit preparation and compliance requirements Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information A proactive and organised approach to workload management Candidates with experience in grant-funded, public sector, charity, NGO or compliance-driven environments will be highly desirable.
