Reports To:

The Graduate Management Accountant will be ultimately responsible to produce the management accounts for Simpson Travel. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role will be responsible for making sure all the parts of a complex process come together perfectly to deliver our internal and external reporting obligations in line with pre-agreed timetables.

Alongside that, the role will be a change advocate and support the whole team with identifying and deploying any process improvements which will improve accuracy or speed of production of these financial statements.

• To calculate and enter monthly accruals and prepayments
• To prepare the monthly reporting pack and added value variance analysis for distribution to senior management
• To complete detailed annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with the finance team
• Key contact for overseas management with finance queries
• To control and forecast income and expenditure, and ensure spending is kept in line with the budget
• To develop reporting back to business department leaders to allow review and control of spend ensuring variances are re-forecasted appropriately or providing clear explanation to the Financial Controller where the variance will impact the full year
• To continuously seek out improvement opportunities within the Finance Department, and to identify and implement effective solutions
• To provide other analysis and reports as required by the Financial Controller or wider Finance team
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations to ensure internal controls are adhered to
• Administrate the Microsoft Business Central ERP system
• Primary report writer for JET Reports used to pull information from Microsoft Business Central
• Maintenance of internal Accommodation Invoicing system; knowledge of the coding language Python desired
• Graduate with a financial / business / mathematical / analytical or similar qualification
• Active interest in studying towards a higher-level accounting qualification CIMA / ACCA (Supported by the business) Experience of financial modelling
• Evidence of strong Excel skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
• Sound business knowledge
• Accuracy and an eye for detail
• 1 years’ experience of working as a Management Accountant in a similar business
• Experience of working with reporting software (Jet Reports software used in-house)
• Ability to work overseas for short periods if required
• Keen interest in working in the travel industry
• Experience reading/writing in Python coding language
