You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working pro-actively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.
The key purpose of this role is to deal with the corporate tax matters for the various entities making up the firm.
In this role you’ll:
- Review and approve computations of tax adjusted profits for submission to HMRC in corporation tax returns.
- Review & update reports from the firms accounting systems monthly to identify disallowable expenses.
- Review fixed asset records to prepare capital allowance calculations.
- Review and approve corporate tax returns for the subsidiary companies.
- Liaise with HMRC in relation to corporate tax matters.
- Reconcile ledger accounts quarterly to ensure balances held are correctly stated.
- Assisting client project managers, credit control and Accounts Receivable with queries arising on foreign tax matters and to prevent or mitigate deductions of withholding tax by clients. Review of Double Tax Treaties, liaising with HMRC to obtain Certificates of Residence, and with international member firms to obtain repayments from their jurisdiction where appropriate.
- Maintain the BDO Transfer Pricing policy and provide guidance to stakeholders on application of the policy to inter-company transactions.
- Provide support with the Country-by-Country Reporting actions and assist gathering aggregate disclosure information across reporting entities in the group.
- Support with Pillar 2 implementation and GIR reporting processes for group entities across relevant jurisdictions.
- More broadly, provide general corporation tax guidance and advice on group entity compliance obligations in the UK and overseas, and support leadership and internal stakeholders to understand the corporation tax consequences of BDO transactions and acquisitions.
- Involvement with various aspects of the organisation’s Tax Governance as relates to corporation tax matters, including BRR readiness and response, SAO reviews as impact corporation tax obligations and maintain appropriate tax compliance controls.
- Support the organisation’s Tax Strategy through implementing responsible tax behaviours and adding to the value that tax operations provides our business.
You’ll be someone with:
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Good planning and time management.
- Experience with either Alphatax or CCH Personal Tax software would be of assistance.
- A good knowledge of Excel. Experience with macros/VBA would be helpful, but not essential.
- Professional tax qualification (ATT/CTA).
